The Sri Lanka Muslim Congress has tendered a request to obtain the Eastern Province Chief Ministerial Candidacy which is currently being contested under the UPFA ticket.

A senior spokesperson of the SLMC speaking to our news team stated that congress was mostly in control of the provinces seats.

According to its spokesperson if the SLMC would be afforded the opportunity SLMC Leader Rauff Hakeem will be nominated as its representative.

More over if the request by the SLMC is not met with an appropriate response sources state that congress will contest independently.

The final decision in this regard will be drawn at a meeting which will be held on the 16th of this month in Poththuvil, when the supreme council of the SLMC convenes.
