Presidential Secretariat Lalith Weerathunga has dubbed the president's tour of England as extremely successful which in turn gained Sri Lanka a fringe of benefits.
The comments by Presidential secretariat Lalith Weerathunga came during a media briefing which was held to inform the public on the president's recent visit to England which came on the heels of an official visit extended to him by the Royal Family to witness the queens diamond jubilee.
This president's recent visit to England has been termed as the highest state level visit by a Sri Lankan leader in the countries history.
Special security arrangements were also in place of President Rajapaksa's visit.
Several Attempts to disrupt the president's visit by members of the LTTE Diaspora had been foiled.
Moreover President Mahinda Rajapaksa was provided with a special bullet proof vehicle as an added precautionary measure.
Presidential Secretariat Lalith Weerathunga noted that the president's visit to England had served as an adequate answer to various baseless allegations
levelled by the Diaspora.
According to the Sri Lanka's High Commissioner to the UK Dr. Chris Nonis the president had been extended 7 other invitations concurrent to that of the queens' diamond jubilee.
Adding his comments during the media briefing parliamentarian Sajin Vaas Gunawardena who accompanied president Rajapaksa during his tour of England stated that the presidents visit had conveyed a strong message to LTTE zealots in England regarding the countries unyielding spirit against continuouly emerging international threats.
During his visit President Mahinda Rajapaksa had also made it an opportunity
to educate British government officials regarding the activities of the LTTE.
