The court imposed the death sentence on an Indian national found guilty of smuggling 2 ½ kilograms of drugs hidden inside a flour grinding machine
imported from India into the country.

Colombo High Court Judge Preethi Padman Surasena also acquitted a woman
arrested along with the Indian national and ordered her release.

The court had set her free after it came to light that the Indian man had duped the woman into getting the flour grinding machine passed by the customs.
