The legal wing of the United National Party has decided to call for explanations from UNP MPs Palitha Range Bandara and Palitha Thevarapperuma.
The two MPs have been called to explain why they engaged in politics with a leader of a different political party without approval from the UNP.
The legal wing had decided to call for explanations based on several complaints forwarded to opposition leader Ranil Wickremasinghe by senior members of the party.
The complaint alleges that these two MPs are currently engaged in politics with leader of the Democratic National Alliance Sarath Fonseka.
A senior spokesperson for the UNP’s legal wing noted that although the MPs were given permission to partake in programs to ensure the release of Sarath Fonseka from prison, they were not allowed to promote the DNA.
