Non-academic staff strike reaches 10th day

The Inter University Trade Union Federation states that the Education Officials are deliberately circumventing the demands of the union since it hopes to initiate private universities in the country.

Treasurer of the Union Edward Malwaththage stated that copious amounts of capital are being put to waste owing to the strike by the IUTUF; which has incidentally reached its 10th consecutive day.

Meanwhile our news team obtained the view of Minister of Higher Education S.B. Dissanayaka.

The Minister noted that the strike action would come to a halt on Monday since employees are due to report to work under the assurance of adequate safety.
