The Ministry of Health has decided to announce a mosquito mitigation week.

According to Minister of Health Maithreepala Sirisena the commencement date of mosquito mitigation month is due to be announced during tomorrow's presidential task force meeting.

Previously it had been decided to announce the commencement of a mosquito mitigation week.

Hence minister of Health Maithreepala Sirisena notes that a national programme would be launched to bolster the shortcomings of the mosquito mitigation week.

Meanwhile the Director of the Colombo National Hospital Dr. Anil Jaasinghe states that the number of patients being admitted to the hospital who had contracted dengue has spike in the recent past.

According to the Epidemiology unit around 15,000 patients have been reported to have contracted dengue with 75 of them succumbing to their illnesses.
