The Sri Lanka Public Health Officers Association has decided to commence trade union action once again.
Treasurer of the association Yasas Mudalige stated that the strike which had been called off will commence from today.
He added that accordingly they will not provide special reports to the Ministry of Health and will also boycott special meetings.
Meanwhile, the Government Family Health Services Union states that they will also join the PHI trade union action if solutions to their issues are not provided within 10 days.
Furthermore, ambulance drivers of the North Central Province will also stage a strike today and tomorrow.
Secretary of the driver’s association K P Dharmapala stated that this trade union action is against the North Central Province Health Department’s sudden decision to recruit 39 new drivers although there are no current vacancies.
