The Health Ministry has decided to declare a mosquito eradication month.

Minister of Health Maithreepala Sirisena noted that the month will be declared at the conclusion of the presidential task force meeting today.

The Health Ministry declared several mosquito eradication weeks on previous occasions and this time it will be a national effort.

10 ministries will participate in the special meeting on Dengue eradication due to be held today.

Director of the Colombo National Hospital Dr.Anil Jasinghe stated that they too have recorded an increase in the number of Dengue patients.

It was also reported that the Lady Ridgeway Hospital currently has more patients than available beds.

Meanwhile, the Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health has recorded over 15,000 cases of Dengue so far this year of which 75 have been fatal.
