The final rights of the two deceased individuals who were killed during a shooting
shooting carried out on a JVP rally in Katuwana, Hambanthota were performed this evening.
The final rights of Edirimannalage Malini, the female victim were performed at the family burial grounds located at the Thalwaththa Cemetery in Katuwana.
Moreover the interment of the male victim, Nimantha Heshan was observed at the Hadiwaththa burial grounds in Katuwana.
Leader of the JVP Somawansa Amarsinghe as well as party Parliamentarian Anura Kumara Dissanayeke were present during the interment committal.
Meanwhile courts today issued a proscribing order preventing individuals from acting in an unruly manner during the funeral of rights of the Katuwana attack victims.
The magistrate had further ordered the relatives of the deceased to preserve public peace and refrain from acts that would despoil the bodies of the deceased.
The Walasmulla magistrate issued this order upon considering a request made by the Tangalle police superintendent made in the interest of preserving public peace.
Moreover Inspector General of Police N.K. Illangakoon has statd that adequate steps would be taken regarding the individual who has been identified with concern to the dual homicide which occurred during the JVP's rally in Katuwana, Hambanthota.
The IGP's comments came during a special media briefing which was held in Colombo today.
During the media briefing questions were raised by journalist regarding the individual known as Julampitiye Amare who is alleged to have been instrumental in the attack.
It was inquired as to why he remains at large, and had not been apprehended by police.
Moreover Director General of the Media Centre for National Security Lakshman Hulugalle made clarifications regarding his statement which was made yesterday where he stated that the dual homicide in Katuwana had transpired due to an internal conflict within the JVP.
The Director General of THMCNS also commented on the views expressed by JVP MP Anuara Kumara Dissanayeke with concern to the incident.
