Tense situation in Parliament concerning Katuwana incident -Julampitiye Amare hands himself over to court Sri Lanka freedom party deplores JVP over Katuwana incident

Parliament was adjourned for five minutes by the Speaker this afternoon due to the uproar in the house after the Speaker ordered a statement to be made by JVP MP Anura Kumara Dissanayaka on the killing of two JVP supporters in Katuwana be put on hold.

Meanwhile, addressing Parliament Opposition Leader Ranil Wickramasinghe spoke about the current situation in the Country.

Meanwhile, Geeganage Amarasena alias Julampitiye Amare who surrendered to courts today has been placed under remand custody until tomorrow.

The accused had handed himself over to courts on several warrants that had been issued against him previously.

These warrants arraign charges against Geeganage Amarasena for attempting to have escaped the Tangalle Prison complex in 2002, homicide in the Tangalle police division & attempted murder.

The accused who surrendered to courts through an attorney was subsequently

placed under remand custody until tomorrow.

Geeganage Amarasena has also been accused of being instrumental in the Katuwana dual homicide.

Moreover a protest was launched by the JVP before the fort railway station today in an expression of dissent to the Katuwana deaths.

These were the views expressed by Chief Secretary of the party Tilvin Silva.

Meanwhile Police Media Spokesperson SP Ajith Rohana speaking to our news team expressed these views concerning Julampitiye Amare who handed him self over to courts today.

Meanwhile the Sri Lanka Freedom Party has expressed its resentment against the shooting that was carried out at a JVP rally In Walasmulla, Katuwana.

Issuing a release SLFP treasurer MP Dallas Alahapperuma stated that the perpetrators responsible for this heinous crime should be immediately brought to justice.
