The Criminal Investigation Department was requested by court to call for two reports from the Defence Ministry and the Customs Authority regarding high-tech metal detectors used in treasure hunting.

Anuradhapura Chief Magistrate Ruwandika Marapana ordered the CID to provide these reports when the case pertaining to the recovery of this equipment in the possession of two treasure hunters was taken up today.

It was revealed during investigations that the two suspects had attempted to excavate valuables that had been buried by the LTTE in the Sampur and Muttur areas.
