The Sri Lankan delegation to the United Nations Human Rights Council made a brief presentation on the country's Human Rights situation, and outlined to the Council its progress in post- war development and reconciliation on the first day of UNHRC sessions.

External Affairs Ministry Secretary Karunathilaka Amunugama said, that representatives of the Sri Lankan delegation led by Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva Manisha Gunasekera, outlined the country's latest position in relation to resettlement of IDPs, rehabilitation and reintegration of combatants.

Asked if the delegation briefed the Council about recent measures taken by the government to reduce the presences troop in the Northern Province Amunugama said, they have tabled a detailed paper on the situation in the North, which will give the Council an idea about the overall situation in these areas.
