SA will see most non-communicable disease patients in 10 years

The Ministry of Health states that 70% of persons admitted to hospitals succumb to their deaths owing to non-communicable disease.

 

It is believed that 30% of these deaths are caused due to heart attacks.

 

Moreover according to the World Health Organisation estimates the most number of victims suffering from ailments caused due to non communicable disease will be reported from the South Asia region during the next 10 years.

 

We spoke to the Dr.Virgini Mallawarachchi of the Health Ministry’s Non Communicable Disease Unit about this matter.
