A considerable number of complaints against the police have been received by the Sri Lankan Human Rights Commission in the past 6 months.
Dr. Prathiba Mahanama, who is a commissioner for the human rights commission stated that a majority of the complaints were that the general public do not get a proper service when they enter a police station.
Our news team inquired from the Police Media spokesperson SP Ajith Rohana with regards to these complaints.
SP Ajith Rohana stated that these complaints are lodged by suspects who are arrested by the police.
He further stated that the police would extend their fullest support in terms of investigations against police officers with complaints against them.
