Tunisia extradites Libya ex-Prime Minister
Monday, 25 June 2012 - 09:35 AM

Libya's former Prime Minister al-Baghdadi al-Mahmoudi has been extradited to Libya from Tunisia, where he had fled during the uprising against Col Muammar Gaddafi last year.

Mahmoudi, 70, had served as prime minister from March 2006 but fled Libya when Col Gaddafi's forces lost control of Tripoli.

Mahmoudi becomes the first senior official to be returned for trial.

He was arrested in Tunisia in September for illegal entry.
