Minister of Power & Energy Patali Champika Ranawaka states that owing to diesel power generated electricity the CEB incurs a loss of 150 million rupees per day.
The prevalent dry weather conditions in catchment areas has made it imperative for the CEB to resort to diesel power generated electricity there by accommodating requirements of the national grid.
The minister went onto say that if the prevalent dry weather conditions prevail
electricity supply would be severely hampered.
Expressing his views to our news team the minister requested of the public to use electricity sparingly.
