The Bodhu Bala Sena association had called a press conference in Colombo today to provide clarification about the incident that took place in the Wanduramba region in Galle.
The advisor to the association Kirama Wimalajothi Thero stated that the main purpose of the group that was involved in the altercation was to make a request to put a stop to the activities of the individual named Siriwardena, who acts as the abbot in the Wanduramba Sri Sumedha Buddhist Ashrama, as he was leading the public astray.
Kirama Wimalajothi Thero expressed his regret at the disturbance that was caused.
The clergy who joined the press conference also stated that they were not satisfied with the actions of the Ministry of Buddha Sasana and Religious affairs.
The clergy further went on to mention that if these activities that bring disrepute to Buddhism are not curtailed that raids will be conducted on the ministry.
