Concurrent to the Dissolution of the North Central, Sabaragamuwa & Eastern Provincial councils a tense atmosphere has taken over the countries political arena.
Several political parties have expressed various views regarding the status quo.
Minister Wasudewa Nanayakkara who expressed his views on behalf of the government noted that these provincial councils were dissolved as an assessment.
Meanwhile the JVP states that it will contest the upcoming local government polls as a party. Chief Secretary of the party Tilvin Silva expressed these views in this regard.
Moreover Deputy Chief Secretary of the UNP Dr. Jayalath Jayawardhana expressing his views on behalf of the party made these observations concerning the parties Chief Ministerial candidates.
Meanwhile National Organiser of the Muslim Congress former MP Shafeek Rajaabdeen states that his party will be in contention for the Eastern province during the upcoming local government polls in a bid to clinch the provinces Chief Ministerial post.
Speaking to our news team Rajaabdeen noted that it was the opinion of a multitude of Muslim nationals that congress should contest individually for the Eastern Province.
However the Tamil National Alliance states that it is yet to decide the manner in which it will campaign for the Eastern province during the upcoming local government polls.
Batticaloa District TNA Parliamentarian P. Ariyanendran speaking to our news team noted that a final decision in this regard will be reached during future party leaders meeting.
Meanwhile 3 political parties are to form an alliance to contest the upcoming local government polls in the Sabaragamuwa province.
These parties consist of the Democratic Peoples Front, The Upcountry Peoples Front & the National Workers Union.
Leader of the Democratic Peoples Front Mano Ganeshan speaking to our news team noted that all three parties had arrived at a policy agreement to contest the Sabaragamuwa Provincial council during the upcoming local government polls.
