The daily hydro power output of the country has come down from 25% to 14%.
A spokesperson for the Ministry of power & energy stated that the prevalent dry weather spell has contributed to this situation.
Currently 86% of the national power output is supplied by Thermal Power plants.
According to this, out of the 26 giga watts required daily, only 5.2 giga watts are supplied from hydro power and the rest is supplied by thermal power plants.

He also stated that if there are going to be power cuts the public would be informed before hand.
