Minister of Disaster Management Mahinda Amaraweera stated that the prevailing dry weather conditions have adversely affected 13 districts in the country.

 

Moreover Minister Amaraweera noted that the government is prepared to disburse compensation to farmers who would face crop destruction owing to delays in expected showers.

 

 

Speaking further Minister Amaraweera attributed the delays in rain fall due to the destruction of natural rain forests.

 

 

Speaking during today's cabinet decision media briefing Cabinet Spokesperson Minister Keheliya Rambukwella stated that parliament had approved of deploying police & STF personnel to prevent forest arson.
