Indian National Defence Advisor Shiv Shankar Menon has arrived in Sri Lanka.

Our airport correspondent reported that the Indian National Defence Advisor arrived on the island at around 12.40am in a special air craft belonging to India along with 3 other Indian representatives.

Shiv Shankar Menon is in Sri Lanka on a one day visit where he is expected to engage in bilateral talks to further the discussions that took place between Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapakse and Indian Premier Manmohan Singh at the Rio plus 20 summit in Brazil.

He is also expected to focus his talks on the Sampur thermal power plant.

According to the Indian High Commission, the Indian National Defence Advisor is expected to meet with President Mahinda Rajapakse and the Secretary of Defence today.
