South Korea postpones signing of a landmark military agreement with Japan,
Friday, 29 June 2012 - 07:32 PM

South Korea has postponed the signing scheduled for today of a landmark military agreement with Japan, after strong objections from both ruling and opposition parties in Seoul.

In Tokyo, where the deal was about to be inked, the foreign ministry confirmed the ceremony had been shelved following a request from Seoul.

The information-sharing pact would have been the first military agreement between the two countries since Tokyo's brutal colonial rule over Korea ended in 1945.
