Minister of wildlife makes use of drought

The programme implemented to secure water resources in the Mahaweli zone commenced from Anuradhapura today.

 

Minister of Agrarian Services & Wild life S.M. Chandrasena noted that water wells would be sanitized under the initial phase of the programme.

 

 

Minister Chandrasena also noted that 136 rivers would be sanitized assisted by the prevalent drought in these areas.

 

 

Meanwhile the water Director Genarl of Irrigation Badra Kamaladasa notes that water levels of the Mahaweli reservoir network has receded further.

 

The water level of the Victoria reservoir currently stands at 15.6%, While Rantambe is at 13.1%.

 

Moreover the water levels of the Castlereigh reservoir had receded to 13.1% by yesterday while levels at the Kalawea has reduced to 2% of its total capacity.
