The united National Party states that it will file a fundamental rights petition against the Criminal Investigations Depart, over its raid concerning the Lanka X news website premises.

UNP MP Mangala Samaraweera made this observation while addressing a media briefing held in Colombo today.

Meanwhile the government states that it is essential to stem the illicit propagation of unfounded rumours & material.

Issuing a media release the government information department stated that

Internet news websites superseded the media ethics, there by violating human rights.
