Water levels decrease in reservoirs and tanks

The Sri Lanka Mahaweli Authority has informed that the water levels in several Mahaweli reservoirs have decreased due to the lack of rain.

These include the Victoria, Rantabe and Castlereigh reservoirs.

Meanwhile, several large tanks have also seen their water levels decrease during the last week.

We spoke to the Department of Meteorology regarding the impending weather conditions.

Duty Meteorologist S R Jayasekara noted that with the current South Western Monsoon conditions rains are highly unlikely.
