The Health Ministry has informed that “S” shaped mosquito larvae which show rapid movement are definite indicators that they are the dengue mosquito carrying entities.

It has been established that other larvae do not show such rapid movement.

The ministry also warned that dengue mosquito eggs can survive for upto a year in dry weather conditions.

The dengue eradication month is currently in its second week.

All state and private institutions and homes will be inspected during this week.

Chairman of the Sri Lanka Public Health Inspectors Association Upul Rohana stated that strict legal action will be taken against those who foster mosquito breeding sites.
