The Chief Magistrate of Kandy has advised a group of students of the Peradeniya University that they should only engage in educational activities during their campus years and not politics.
Chief Magistrate Ravindra Premaratne advised them not to tarnish the university’s name and reputation.
Two university students who were arrested on charges of attacking and causing damage worth 1.2 million to the Peradeniya Rest were produced before the magistrate yesterday.
The two students were subjected to an identification parade yesterday where one of them was identified by the eye witnesses.
The magistrate ordered for this suspect to be remanded while the other student was released on a 100,000 rupee bail.
