It is reported that Leftist parties attached to the UPFA will contest separately during the upcoming local government polls for the Eastern province under the Socialist Peoples Front banner.

Speaking to our news a senior spokesperson of the SPF noted that this gesture will serve as a launch pad for resolving the national issue in the East where a majority of Tamil speaking nationals reside.

Meanwhile our news team contacted Professor Tissa Vitharana who is a prominent leftist leader representing the UPFA.

In reply he noted that although talks in this regard had commenced a final decision is yet to be reached.
