Minister of Child Development urges calls for death sentence

Minister of Child Development & Women's Affairs Thissa Karalliyadda notes that

the complete assistance of the law is required to curb the current escalation in child abuses.

Minister Karalliyadda noted that the current trend could be controlled if some of the perpetrators were commuted the death sentence.

However he stated that the data appearing with concern to child abuse in Sri Lanka could not be accepted owing to the countermeasures implemented by his

ministry.

Speaking to our news team Minister Karalliyadda expressed these views.

Meanwhile Police Media Spokesperson SP Ajith Rohana speaking to our news team noted that the penal code of the country is sufficient to restrain and reprimand offenders.
