Standards set for Colombo eateries

The Colombo Municipal Council's Public Health Division says no eatery owner who cannot ensure more than 80 per cent standard in food samples will be included in the standard category.

 

Currently the Colombo Municipal Council has begun a food testing programme for categorising the eateries within the Municipal limits under a special standardisation.

 

CMC Public Health Division Chief Medical Officer Pradeep Karyavasam said that it had been revealed as a result of food sample testing carried out during the recent past that the food sold in many eateries was substandard.
