The United National Party cautions the Muslim community to not be deceived by political parties which claim to be appearing on behalf of the Muslim population.

Deputy Chairman of the UNP, MP Kabeer Hashim speaking during a media briefing held in Colombo today expressed these views.

Meanwhile a Senior spokesperson representing the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress stated that a special discussion is due to be held between President Mahinda Rajapaksa and SLMC Leader Rauff Hakeem today.

The discussion is to focus on campaign activities in the East during the upcoming provincial polls.

According to informed sources several opinions are said to have formed within the SLMC concerning the upcoming provincial council polls.

Amongst the options open for the SLMC are contesting individually, forming an alliance with the TNA or UPFA government.
