Army Commander Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya says that the statistics in the report an Indian magazine had submitted saying that there is an army officer per every five civilians in the North is false.
The Army Commander said so in response to a question a journalist raised with regard to this at a media briefing held at army headquarters yesterday.
The BBC Sinhala Service citing the Indian Economic and Political Weekly magazine had reported that it had been revealed in a survey that an army officer for every five residents had been deployed in the north.
The BBC Sinhala Service had reported that according to the survey of the Indian magazine at least 198 thousand army officers were deployed in the Northern Province.
