Police protection was needed to control two situations of unrest that took place in monthly meetings of local government institutions.
The first situation arose in the Horowpathana Pradeshiya sabha when Councillor M. A. Ismail stated his issues with regards to the agenda against the chairman.
When the Councillor continued his speech heedless of the unrest, the Pradeshiya Sabha chairman Anura Wickramasinghe asked the councillor to leave the meeting which lead to the chairman to suspend meeting activities for 20 minutes.
During the resumption of the meeting the entrance of Councillor M. A. Ismail caused a stir in the meeting again, for which the police was called in.
The second such situation arose in the Hatton - Dik Oya urban council special general meeting.
During the meeting the chairman of the urban council Alagamuttu Nandakumar was questioned by both government and opposition councillors the mayor stated that he did not know who had called the police in.
