Police Media Spokesperson SP Ajith Rohana states that 10,648 warrant recipients have been apprehended during the past 21 days.

According to the Police Media Spokesperson these persons were arrested with regards to 12,588 warrants which had been issued.

Operations to nab these suspects had commenced on the 20th of June and ended yesterday.

The Police Media Spokesperson noted that the IGP had instructed authorities to expedite pending warrants subsequent to the arrest of Julampitiye Amare.

Speaking to our news team police media spokesperson SP Ajith Rohana expressed these views.

According to reports from the police headquarters the most number of warrant holders which stands at 966 have been apprehended from the Kandy district while another 762 have been apprehended from Anuradhapura.

Meanwhile, an individual who claims to be the coordinating secretary of Deputy Minister of Youth Affairs and Skills Development Duminda Dissanayaka has been placed under remand custody until the 25th of this month.

Anuradhapura Chief Magistrate Ruwandika Marapana issued this order when the suspect had presented himself before court today, through his attorney.

According to our court correspondent the suspect had been evading courts for over 2 years and had been issued 5 warrants based on various charges including de-fall-cation.
