An agreement was signed between the Government’s of India & Sri Lanka yesterday to commence a housing project in the countries North.
The agreement was signed under the auspices of Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa.
Minister Basil Rajapaksa had expressed his gratitude towards the Indian government for its continued assistance in all aspects.
Under the purview of the project 43,000 housing units are due to be constructed.
The project was initiated subsequent to a pledge issued to President Mahinda Rajapaksa during his visit to the Indian Subcontinent in 2010.
The project envisages a total of 50,000 housing units, while the agreement for its initial phase encompassing 43,000 hosing units was inked yesterday.
