Dispute within SLMC resolved - party to sign MOU with Government tomorrow

The Memorandum of Understanding which is due to be signed between the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress & the Government with regards to contesting the Eastern Provincial Council elections is due to be inked tomorrow morning.

 

According to a Senior Spokesperson from the SLMC, the Supreme Council of the

party had arrived at this decision this morning.

 

The Supreme Council of the SLMC had convened this morning to settle the dispute within the party which had arisen with regards to contesting the Eastern province during the upcoming polls.

 

It is reported that SLMC party General Secretary Hassan Ali had declined to ratify nomination papers prepared by the UPFA this morning, subsequently the dispute over nominations had arisen.

 

However according to the SLMC, tomorrows MOU due to be inked between the SLMC & Government will not touch on the Chief Ministerial Portfolio of the East or provincial council ministerial port folios.

 

Earlier on preconditions set forth by the SLMC which demanded for the Chief Ministerial Portfolio of the East, Two provincial Ministerial portfolio's & one bonus seat.
