It is reported that several names of kin related to SLFP chief ministers have been included in nominations submitted for the Kegalle & Rathnapura districts in lieu of the upcoming provincial polls.
According to informed sources the most number of those related to SLFP politicos have been reported from the Kegalle district.
07 candidates out of the 21 in contention are reported to be related to SLFP politicians.
The sons of Ministers H R Mithrapala, Jagath Balasuriya & Deputy Minister Lalith Dissanayaka are said to be included in the group while the daughter of MP Y G Pathamasiri is also amongst the group.
Meanwhile the son & son-in Law of Senior Minister Athawudha Senevirathna and nephew of Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya have also submitted nominations for the Kegalle district.
Moreover the son-in-law of Minister John Senevirathna & husband of Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi are also reported to have submitted nominations under the SLFP banner from the Rathnapura District.
Against this backdrop the Central Committee of the SLFP decided to abstain from awarding nominations to those who were closely related to party politicians.
However it was also decided during the SLFP's Central Committee meeting to permit kin of party politicians who are already engaged in active politics to proceed ahead devoid of any interference.
It is against such a backdrop that that the names of those related to SLFP politicians has been included in the respective nominations list.
