Reports indicate that there was a police check-point near the house where the latest double murder took place in Kotaketana – Kahawatte this morning.
A senior police officer from the area also confirmed the existence of this check point.
A 63-year old mother and her 32-year old daughter were found dead inside their home that had caught fire.
The magisterial inquiry into the incident concluded a short while ago after the Palmedulla Magistrate Niranjala Dias inspected the room in which the two charred bodies were found.
The government analyst has also commenced his investigations after which the bodies will be moved to the Rathnapura Hospital for the post mortems.
Meanwhile, the investigations into the murders have been handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department.
A senior officer of the Rathnapura Police told our news team that several police teams have already commenced their investigations.
He also added that security in the area has been beefed up after the incident this morning.
The case pertaining to the previous killings of a mother and daughter in the same area in February is currently ongoing.
Another incident of two sisters who were burnt in their beds was also reported from the same area.
