Sri Lanka's Olympic hopefuls to leave for UK next Tuesday

The Sri Lankan team for the London 2012 Olympics headed by Badminton player Niluka Karunaratne will leave the island next Tuesday.

 

Four direct qualifiers for the 30th Summer Olympics are also a part of the Sri Lankan team.

 

Marathon runner Anuruddha Indrajith Cooray who also represented Sri Lanka at the 2004 Athens Olympics is the senior most member of the team.

 

Badminton player Thilini Jayasinghe and Rifle Shooter Mangala Samarakoon will also represent Sri Lanka.

 

Meanwhile, hurdler Christine Sonali Merrill and swimmers Heshan Unambowe and Preshika Udugampola who received wild-card entries in to London 2012 round up the Sri Lankan team.
