Stocks end five day losing streak

Sri Lanka stocks ended a five day losing streak and close up 1.42% yesterday in a broad based rally while the rupee firmed against the spot US dollar.

 

The Colombo All Share Price Index gained 68.47 points to 4,891.11 up 1.4 percent and the S&P 20 Index of large cap stocks closed up 0.6 percent (17.43 points) to 2760.18.

 

In forex markets rupee closed around 133.10 to the US dollar in the spot market up from 133.45 levels a day earlier.

 

Yesterday's turnover was 666 million rupees.
