President orders IGP to investigate Mannar incident
Saturday, 21 July 2012 - 07:48 AM

President Mahinda Rajapakse has issued an order to IGP N. K. Illangakoon to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident in Mannar and for the investigation to be conducted by the CID.

The president had further ordered that all individuals connected to this incident be questioned regardless of their status.

Speaking to our news team police media spokesperson SP Ajith Rohana explained this further.

All the lawyers in the country engaged in a protest campaign yesterday over the threatening of the Mannar Magistrate by a group of thugs on the 18th and the subsequent attack on the Manna courts complex.

The lawyers association alleged that a government minister was involved in this incident.

Due to the protest launched by the lawyers no cases were heard in open court yesterday.
