President states that the independence of the judiciary would be ensured

President Mahinda Rajapaksa states that it is the aim of the government to preserve the independence of the judiciary.

The president has also stated that in the absence of a proper judiciary a country could not be governed accordingly.

He had stated that his government was obligated to preserve and uphold the law of the country to its utmost capability.

The president's comments came while par-taking in the national agrarian week exhibition which was held at the grounds of the Gannoruwa agricultural centre grounds.

The president had also noted that it was distressing to learn that a member of his cabinet had come under suspicion by the countries judicial system.
