A group of students have begun a hunger strike in front of the Kalavana Educational Office stating that an injustice was done to them when the Z scores were calculated a second time for University entrance.
These students are currently engaged in their hunger strike in front of the Kalavana bus stand.
38 students from regions such as Ratnapura, Kalavana, Ayagama and Nivithigala who sat for the advanced level examinations under the old syllabus are taking part in this hunger strike.
During several press conferences held today in Colombo, several ideas were discussed regarding the Z score issue.
Western provincial councillor Dr. Nalinda Jayasinghe, speaking at a press conference organized by the JVP in Colombo today stated that the universities should refrain from admitting foreign students to universities this year and admit the students who were unfairly treated during the Z score issue.
Meanwhile former Supreme Court Judge W. M. T. P. B. Warawawa stated that all students who passed the advanced level examinations in both the new syllabus and old syllabus and obtained university entrance should be admitted to universities.
