Agrarian and wildlife Minister S M Chandrasena states that government will continue to provide the 6000 rupees allowance for farmers who were affected by the drought.
Minister Chandrasena also stated that the ministry has commenced a survey to identify the land extent destroyed as a result of the drought.
Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremasinghe has requested the government to pay the 100,000 rupee per family compensation promised to farmers before the 30th of August.
The opposition leader made this request at the UNP district executive meeting held in Anuradhapura recently.
