A scheduled visit to Sri Lanka by Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar has been postponed.
Rabbani Khar was to arrive in Sri Lanka on August 1st on a three-day visit on an invitation extended by External Affairs Minister G.L. Peiris.
During her visit to Sri Lanka, Khar was scheduled to deliver a guest lecture at the Kadirgamar Institute for International Relations and Strategic Studies in Colombo.
Earlier the Pakistan High Commission in a statement said the visit was aimed at enhancing bilateral ties between the people of the two countries which date back to the days of the Buddhist civilisation and have been marked by a shared interest in regional peace and stability.
Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Sri Lanka in 1948, the two countries have consistently maintained close, cordial and a mutually supportive relationship.
