Chief suspect behind murder of Yakkalamulla Principal arrested.

The chief suspect behind the murder of the principal of the Yakkalamulla-Minuwandeniya Junior college has been arrested last night.

 

According to the Yakkalamulla police a relative of the chief suspect who is also suspected to have been instrumental in the murder, has also been apprehended.

 

The Principal of the Yakkalamulla-Minuwandeniya Junior college was impaled with a knife on the night of the 28th due to a personal dispute.

 

Police sources note that the knife utilized to carry out the murder had been recovered from the home of the chief suspect.

 

It has also been revealed that the prime suspect is an army deserter.

 

Moreover three male suspects as well as a female suspect who were arrested in connection to the incident previously, were produced before the Baddegama Acting Magistrate Sriya Yasarathna yesterday, and were subsequently ordered to be further remanded until 10th of August.

 

The chief suspect as well as his relative, who were arrested yesterday, is due to be produced before the Baddegama Magistrate today.
