The Road Development Authority has taken steps to prevent the macadamisation of two roads in the Kochchikade-Pallansena area which comes under the purview of the Negombo Urban Council.
The project had been estimated to be completed at a cost of 15 million rupees under the joint collaboration of the RDA & the Negombo Municipal Council.
Negombo Urban Councillor Sunil Silva speaking to our news team stated
that the Chief Engineer of the RDA's Negombo sector had however ordered the cancellation of all preparatory work in this regard yesterday.
Sunil Silva notes that such a course of action was resorted to based on a personnel feud.
When inquired by the mayor of Negombo in this regard Antanee Jayaweera
he noted that he had made inquiries in this regard from the engineer attached to the RDA.
The Chief Engineer had noted that the project had been halted based on the instructions issued to him by Negombo seat organiser, Deputy Minister Sarath Kumara Gunarathna.
