The elections secretariat has decided to increase the number of centres where complaints can be lodged.
There is one office to examine complaints at district level, however following the discussions yesterday the number of offices in the Anuradhapura district have been increased to 5 and these will be established at Thambuththegama, Kekirawa, Galnewa, Kebithigollewa and Kahatagasdigiliya.
In addition, in the Batticaloa district offices will be set up at Valachchana and Kalawanchikudi and in the Digamadulla district, an additional office will be established at Akkarepaththu.
Meanwhile, the Elections secretariat has decided to place additional elections officers at places where postal votes will be certified and elections officers will be stationed as observers at the postal votes marking centres in order to ensure a free and fair election.
The PAFFERAL is preparing to embark on a tour of the regions where the elections will be held.
Executive director Rohana Hettiarachchi stated that following the inspection tour PAFFERAL will submit a report to the elections commissioner whether there is a conducive environment to hold a free and fair election.
