Water supplies limited due to drought

The National Water Supply & Drainage Board says that it may recourse to limiting water supply to certain areas due to the prevalent drought.

Chairman of the NWSDB Karunasena Hettiarachchi speaking to our news team stated that water cuts are already in effect for the Areas of Galle & Mathara located in the Southern Province.

The Chairman of the NWSDB also noted that the supplying of portable water may also be hampered to most parts of the island if the drought persists.

Moreover the dry weather conditions are also weighing down tea plucking in the Central Highlands.

According to our provincial correspondents supplies to factories have been severely depleted.
