Deputy Minister Sarana Gunawardhana was issued notice by court today to be
present before it on the 05th of October with concern to the alleged property discrepancy surrounding the Minuwangoda-Horampalla estate.
The court order was issued when a petition filed by a businessman in the Nilpanagala area in Minuwangoda was taken up before the Minuwangoda District Courts today.
Presenting facts before court the plaintiff had noted that he had purchased a plot of land in the Nilpanagala area subsequent to which deputy Minister Sarana Gunawardhana had contacted him via phone and demanded for a bribe of rupees 25 million claiming ownership over the plot of land.
The plaintiff also noted that since the bribe had not been paid, deputy Minister Sarana Gunawardhana had obtained an enjoining order from the district land registration office claiming proprietorship over the land.
The plaintiff in his petition filed before court yesterday seeks to move court to
vacate the enjoining order and claim personnel losses from the deputy minister amounting to one hundred million rupees.
